Chef Luis Roger's journey into the culinary world began in Barcelona, where he honed his skills and developed a profound appreciation for Spanish cuisine. His transition to Houston was serendipitous, sparked by a connection made during a summer rental for a family. After several years in Spain and deliberation, he decided to take the plunge and open his restaurant. This leap of faith has allowed him to share the richness of Spanish cuisine with a new audience.
Luis's restaurant presents a beautiful balance between traditional and innovative Spanish dishes. For instance, he stays true to classic recipes while allowing for seasonal modifications, ensuring the menu remains fresh yet familiar. This approach has garnered a loyal following, with patrons often reminiscing about specific dishes that bring back fond memories, such as Patatas Bravas and exquisite Jamón Ibérico. Luis believes that repetition and consistency are key to achieving perfection in their offerings.
Beyond just serving food, Luis aims to create an encompassing Spanish dining experience. Every detail, from the music to the tableware, is thoughtfully curated to evoke a sense of being in Spain. The welcoming atmosphere combined with meticulous service ensures that each guest feels valued, translating to a memorable outing. As Luis reflects on ten successful years in the industry, he remains committed to his vision of providing an authentic experience that celebrates the heart and soul of Spanish cuisine.
In the heart of Houston, Chef Luis Roger transforms the local culinary landscape with authentic Spanish flavors. Having grown up in Spain, Luis encapsulates two distinct styles of Spanish cuisine at his restaurant. First, he offers the well-structured, elegant presentations typical of Barcelona dining. Then, he introduces the playful and vibrant dishes known from Madrid, creating a unique dining experience that pays homage to his heritage. Since opening his restaurant 10 years ago, Luis has strived to replicate the warm hospitality and intricate flavors synonymous with Spain. He firmly believes that a restaurant should represent not only food but also culture, ambience, and a memorable dining experience.Oh, I remember fondly, banking in my job, in my 30’s & 40’s ~ when prices were reasonable ~ & enjoying ALL the amazing restaurants, 2-3 x a week, with my two growing, always hungry, sons. No biggie on the wallet. Now, I balk at prices.
Speechless 🙊. Food looked unbelievably delicious 😋. But I imagine the prices are other worldly lol. Chris, you always do an outstanding job on these vlogs and represent Houston in an excellent manner.
I went to BCN when they first opened and ordered salmon at the bar. It was so inedible… I’ve never sent food back to the kitchen in my life. The salmon was extremely salty. The cook came out and agreed and apologized. I’m very glad they’re doing so much better than that initial experience I had with them. Keep on point.
