In his opening remarks, Marco Rubio reflected on his journey, shaped significantly by his family's immigration from Cuba. He acknowledged the foundational role his parents played in his life, instilling values of resilience and perseverance. This personal narrative not only humanizes Rubio but also establishes a deeper connection with constituents who value family and immigration stories in American society.
Rubio called attention to his vision of a resurgent America, one that places its national interests at the forefront of foreign policy. Drawing from past successes, he indicated that a confident approach would deter adversaries and establish a framework for effective international relations. His emphasis on alliances in crucial regions aims to rekindle the stability once guaranteed by American leadership.
In light of the evolving global landscape, Rubio underscored the pressing need to address the crises arising from flawed policies and doctrines. He characterized the current geopolitical situation as one fraught with instability caused by adversaries utilizing existing frameworks to their advantage. By returning to a focus on national sovereignty and security, Rubio contends that the U.S. can navigate these complexities and reassert its role as a primary force for order in a chaotic world.
Marco Rubio, nominated to be America’s top diplomat, began his confirmation hearing today, delivering a heartfelt message that acknowledged the sacrifices of his parents who immigrated from Cuba. He stressed the importance of faith in his role, asserting that it would guide him in addressing modern geopolitical challenges. Rubio highlighted the need to confront the failings of the post-World War II global order, underscoring the harmful impacts of prioritizing global trade and migration over national security. He argued that the current global landscape reflects a dangerous era, one where adversaries exploit the existing order to their advantage, leading to instability and crises worldwide. In his testimony, Rubio painted a picture of a world where alliances are more critical than ever, particularly in regions like the Indo-Pacific and Europe. He credited the previous decades of U.S. foreign policy with having fostered stability and prosperity but recognized that this order has been exploited. The senator remarked that radical elements are taking advantage of perceived weaknesses and advocated for a renewed focus on national interests. He emphasized that the United States must once again assert its role in creating order out of chaos. Rubio’s vision is clear: a strong America must lead globally, grounded in national sovereignty rather than a diluted global identity. He criticized the previous bipartisan consensus that erroneously believed all nations would embrace democracy and align with Western values. Recognizing the growing threats from rogue states and non-state actors, he outlined a strategy that prioritizes the security of American interests. With a strong diplomatic approach, Rubio aims to reposition the U.S. as a leader, ready to confront the geopolitical challenges of the 21st century with equanimity and resolve.0:47 And because of them, I had the privilege to be born a citizen of the greatest nation in the history of mankind. – Marco Rubio, 15.1.2025

The problem of US officials is the want their country to prosper but they dont want others to have the same prosperity because that it will decrease the leverage that US have on other countries.....In the case of Russian energy you have been hypocritical to that ....The European weoponise the SWIFT financial system against Russia ...so in turn Russia is entitled to retaliate with what they have.... SWIFT system is global service in which political ideology should not be used or targeted other countries.....so as energy should not be a weapon against other..
Hes words and actions are on record.. and apparently none of anyones dirty deeds these day mean absolutely nothing since the trump era. These sort of Project 2025 extremist will be the death of the USA as we once proudly knew it to be.
It is the governments in Europe who Trump supports, and who support Trump—like Hungary—who wants to remain dependent on Russian gas. And their argument for ending the war in Ukraine is simply because of that reason. Especially now when Ukraine turned off the pipelines after giving European nations some time to adapt. When Rubio argues that France is (numerically) very dependent on Russian energy it is because they are many people and a relatively large economy. Rubio should look at per capita dependency and how much nations have started to turn away from Russian energy since the invasion of Ukraine. In relation to how technologically and economically complicated it is for a nation to end its dependency. That’s how you do it if you’re serious politician who want to accomplish real changes, and not only change the “numbers” that don’t paint a a realistic image of the situation. Also, one must take into account that it is a democratic process. In the US, the executive branch has a lot of powers, as do the Congress not always act on their constituents will, and its citizens are obviously easy to manipulate by the politicians rather than the other way around. But in European democracies you will have to actually inform and push the arguments to be able to convince the voters. And since the far right is growing in Europe too, and those are the ones who want to remain dependent on Russia and sometime increase the dependency of China, it is quite hard when Trump himself and Musk go all in on their agenda. Do they really want nations do become more independent from Russia, or is it just a scam and their interests are really something else? This is something Rubio will have to explain to European leaders, since he won’t do it in public as it would be embarrassing for Trump. And he won’t be able to answer their questions.
