Attorney Brian Fredman is making significant moves in the Mendez Brothers case by requesting that it be transferred to the California Attorney General's office. He argues that this change could lead to better advocacy for the brothers' release. This petition stems from claims of a conflict of interest in the Los Angeles District Attorney's office, bringing potential new hope in the case that has drawn public attention for decades.
Family members of Kitty and Jose Menendez are heavily involved in advocating for the brothers' release. Fredman emphasizes that the voices of Kitty's and Jose's older sisters are crucial in this legal process. They have been central in calling attention to the issues surrounding the brothers' treatment and the motivations behind the initial convictions.
With Nathan Hochman newly appointed as Los Angeles District Attorney, the dynamics of the Mendez Brothers case have dramatically changed. Hochman has removed deputy district attorneys who were previously supportive of the brothers' resentencing. This development raises questions about whether the Mendez Brothers will receive a fair re-evaluation under the current leadership and potentially sets significant precedents for similar cases.
In a significant development regarding the Mendez Brothers case, attorney Brian Fredman, representing the family members of Kitty and Jose Menendez, announced plans to file a petition to transfer the case from the Los Angeles District Attorney's office to the California attorney general. This move comes amid claims of a conflict of interest within the current Los Angeles District Attorney's office, which could prove pivotal in the quest for the brothers’ freedom. Fredman argues that the new California Attorney General, Rob Bonta, might be more supportive of the brothers' release compared to the current administration. Fredman highlighted the importance of the family's voice in this process, indicating that Kitty and Jose Menendez's family members, particularly their older sisters, want to ensure that their concerns are heard. The discussion surrounding the Mendez Brothers case has gained renewed attention with recent documentaries shedding light on the circumstances that led to their incarceration after the murders of their parents in 1989. The brothers have now been behind bars since their conviction in 1996, and moving the case could lead to a major review of the evidence against them. Despite the potential for a favorable outcome with the California Attorney General, there remains uncertainty. The new district attorney, Nathan Hochman, recently removed two deputy district attorneys who had been advocating for the brothers' resentencing, indicating a shift in the case's dynamics. Hochman has stated that he intends to thoroughly review all evidence and interview witnesses before making a decision, leaving the future of the Mendez Brothers' case hanging in the balance while the January resentencing hearing approaches.Ive seen people with worse crimes get paroled or at least get a chance at parole. These guys committed a crime against their abusers during a time when their brains werent fully developed yet and had the emotional maturity between 8 and 10 years old. But this guy Hochman thinks hes superman trying to protect the public?? From who? Victims whove dedicated their life to helping others?? Gimme a break! This new DA is biased af and should not be reviewing this case, period.
The brothers are no danger. The DA has worse criminals running in the streets to worry about
The DA Hochman has a serious conflict of interests going on un His office. He got Cathy Cady, uncle Miltons lawyers a position in the office. Now their lawyers AND their family lawyers are fighting to transfer their case to the State DA.
I don’t think they should be released. If they stop committing prison rule violations then perhaps they can be transferred to another prison with more freedoms instead of being in max.
Seems like this could be better because imo and this is just what I think Hochman isnt in a rush to get them out and probably doesnt want them out. Like come on people they wont be a threat to anyone. We have more dangerous people in the streets right now. They deserve a chance at freedom for 54 and 56 years they havent had a real day of freedom. Im praying everyday for them to get out. Idc what anyone says to me but I believe them Ive seen videos of their trials and if they are lying then they are the best actors in the fucking world. They definitely arent lying that was real emotion they gave at their trial
