Biden’s address called upon the American public to remain vigilant against the growing concentration of power among elites. He underlined the importance of informed citizen participation in countering the narrative shaped by wealthy influencers, thereby promoting fairness and accountability.
During his farewell address, President Biden issued an urgent warning to the nation regarding the increasing power of big tech companies. Reflecting on his five decades in politics, he noted that an oligarchy of extreme wealth and influence is emerging in America, which poses a significant threat to democracy, individual rights, and equal opportunities for all citizens. Citing President Eisenhower's concerns about the military-industrial complex, Biden identified a similar risk in the rise of a tech industrial complex, stressing that it could lead to the dangerous concentration of power in the hands of a few wealthy elites. Biden expressed deep concern about the current state of information consumption in the U.S. He lamented the decline of traditional media and criticized social media platforms for prioritizing profit over truth. As misinformation proliferates, he noted how the free press is struggling, causing a deterioration of fact-checking processes and leading to the spread of harmful narratives that undermine democracy. Biden urged greater accountability from social media companies to help protect citizens and maintain democratic values. In a bid to engage the American public, Biden encouraged individuals to stay informed about these developments and to challenge the concentrating power of the oligarchy. This call for action is not only about safeguarding democracy but also about ensuring that citizens can pursue fair opportunities in society. By highlighting the dangers posed by a tech oligarchy, he set the stage for citizens to make informed decisions that could reverse this concerning trend.Theres no way people are down in the comments.Actually trying to claim that hes citing an insurrection. He said, literally nothing about that.I believe youre trying to think of trump right now
Love how people still believe in this red vs blue, left vs right, dem vs rep division 🤦♂️ Its a game they want us to play... Yall need to grow up and quit saying some racist, radical, and ignorant stuff.
Him speaking about the dangers of Military Industrial Complex is irony at its finest😂
He warns against oligarchy because THAT is what his administration displayed consistently. Its a Constitutional Republic. While often categorized as a democracy, the United States is more accurately defined as a constitutional federal republic. What does this mean? “Constitutional” refers to the fact that government in the United States is based on a Constitution which is the supreme law of the United States. And the disinformation served you well during your administration. We can only pray that it gets better now. (Lets fact check your income during your tenure if you want to talk about wealth, power and corruption)!
