Where did he get the flag from? If he ordered it online that’s a ref flag and should have been looked into.

Lol you missed a few crucial details. Isis was originally an al qaeda branch. Al qaeda wanted to destabilize iraq post US withdrawal but even with the Iraqi military just having had virtually all its command level staff kicked out, was still switched on and the task proved difficult. Al bagdadi was in charge of these efforts. At the same time accross the border in syria the US was fueling a fresh civil war. Al bagdadi sent one of his commanders into syria to take advantage of the free dollars and guns. He formed a group call jabaht Al nusra which was the official al qaeda branch in syria. Al nusra had a much easier time because of the free $, guns and maybe more importantly the US global English speaking media was at a point in time where you quit literally couldnt be a terrorist in syria. The US media excused every single radical faction that was willing to fight assad. With the success in syria al bagdadi could use syria as a staging point to accomplish his original goal of destabilizing iraq. Convoys of vbids a hundred km long poured into iraq from syria. The US watched this unfold. The US had a choice, they had a nation conquering amount of fire power available and a stated mission to fight terrorism and more specifically al qaeda, the one who kicked a this off. But if the US hit the forces in syria they would have to acknowledge that the forces they supported were in fact a coalition of groups of varying radicalism up to and including al qaeda. The US chose to do nothing. They hoped iraq could hold out until assad fell. They were wrong. Isis smashed the Iraqi forces and took control of most of the 2 nations. Al bagdadi went to al qaeda high command and pitched his caliphate. Al qaeda told him hes a moron because the Quran literally references both nations as separate nations. They told him to stay in iraq while al nusra would lead operations in syria. Al bagdadi was no happy and instead he launched a full scale attack on al nusra and very quickly took out the leadership while maintaining most of the organization to take as his own and declare his caliphate. When obama said isis was the jv team this split had not happened yet.

@robotron17

*Obama 2015:* With the additional steps I ordered last month, were speeding up training of ISIL.
