Authorities are investigating the tragic death of a four-month-old baby boy whose body was discovered in a dumpster in Toronto. The investigation began when the baby's father reported him missing on Wednesday morning. Following an urgent search, officers found the infant in critical condition, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. Police confirmed that they are now looking into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death and have towed the dumpster for forensic examination. The child's mother, 30-year-old Caressa Edwards, has been charged with failing to provide the necessaries of life and is currently in custody under police guard. Residents in the vicinity of 855 Roson Avenue have expressed their deep sorrow regarding the incident. Jenna Harper, who lives nearby and is a mother of a newborn herself, left flowers outside the building where the tragedy occurred. Many neighbors remarked on the sadness that has enveloped the community. The police have not disclosed specific details about where the baby was found, but the area has been sealed off as part of the ongoing investigation. Eyewitness testimonies reveal that the child's father appeared distressed, prompting concern from residents about the family's situation. Court documents indicate that there were two outstanding bench warrants for Caressa Edwards prior to her arrest. These were related to previous charges from late 2021 and early 2022, indicating a troublesome background. Despite her current state in the hospital, Edwards has been ordered not to have contact with the baby's father or her own mother. Community members are left grappling with the implications of the situation, as they call for more awareness surrounding the challenges faced by new mothers, including mental health issues. The case has uncovered the need for a deeper conversation about postpartum depression and the support systems available to parents in distress. No picture of the killer? Even tho she has previous charges, surely there is a mug shot .
Let’s call it what it is…..murder! Postpartum is awful but this is not just failing to provide the necessities of life! Only in Canada! That poor baby and father.
That’s gotta be annoying for the 8th floor residents having to go to another floor to toss their garbage
I watched Juno for the first time having been a teen mom with my 4 year old. At the time I felt like it was so similar to our story except we kept the baby. I look back now to how angry I was at Jason Batemans character and how much my ex husband related to him. That was a red flag I didnt know enough about life to see yet. Such a beautiful movie that really does change depending on where you are in life when you see it.
Sorry to say but using PPD to coin what happened to that poor baby is assinine. Men go thru that just the same. If that man had been in custody of the child while this happened the storyline would be different. Sounds like this woman wasnt ready to be a mother to this child. With the oustanding charges looming over her head its obvious that the decisions of her past overcame her and she was looking for an easy escape. GOD go with her while she is incarcerated because those female prisonors wont take lightly to another inmate who killed/raped/ molested an infant much less a child
Alot of willful ignorance going on outside that front door and oftentimes even in the home. The victims lack representation, travesty of terms.
